Chichester Ronin Judo Club secure £450,000 grant

Chichester Ronin Judo Club have received £450,000 funding from Sport England towards building a new multi-use dojo at the New Park Centre.

The application was made to Sport England’s £10 million Rural Communities Fund. The new multi-use dojo is part of the first phase of the ambitious project to refurbish and extend the New Park Centre.

With significant funding already secured from Chichester District Council and The Woodger Trust, the Sport England award brings the club's fundraising target to within 90% of the figure required to complete the project. The aim is to begin building work early in 2011 and be complete by the end of next year.

Chichester’s new dojo will enable martial arts groups to host training sessions and regional competitions at New Park for the first time. It will also be finished in time for Olympic teams to use in the build up to the 2012 Olympics.

Future Jobs Fund

The Future Jobs Fund (FJF) is a government programme funded by the Department of Work and Pensions and delivered through Jobcentre Plus. It is primarily aimed at 18-24 year olds who have been claiming Jobseekers Allowance for around six to 12 months.

The National Skills Academy have completed two successful bids creating over 5,500 jobs in sport and active leisure.

What does the fund pay for? Employment costs for 6 months employment (based on 25 hours per week), at the National Minimum Wage, plus an allowance to train each employee.

Why may this benefit you? The programme offers Sport and Active Leisure employers an unrivalled opportunity to access funding to support the development of their organisation. Often, the cost of training new staff and employing them through their initial probationary period can be prohibitive.
